A Höchst porcelain réchaud

Circa 1755-60


with a tapering cylindrical chimney moulded with pierced satyr masks and leaf scroll handles, pierced with an arched opening. the food bowl with acanthus-leaf handles, the dome cover with a cone finial, the circular burner with a scroll-moulded thumbpiece, painted in purpurmalerei with vignettes of a shepherd, shepherdess and a gentlman and female companions in landscape, the plain ground painted with scattered insects and sprigs, the vignettes and arch with rocaille, enruched in gilt, iron-red wheel mark to chimney and numeral `3` to food warmer
