The choice of stones in the present lot, including Tuscan alabaster, rouge de Languedoc, vert de mer and Spanish brocatello, together with the stylized design of Roman inspiration, suggest the north of Italy as origin for its production. Marmorari such as Francesco Macetti (1619-1687), active in Genoa and also in Montpellier (see Deydé Funerary Chapel in Montpellier Cathedral) or others such as Genoese emigrés working in marble inlays in the church of the Italians in Lisbon (Giovanni Battista Garvo or Giovanni Battista Castello), are examples of the active and international marble inlaid production of Liguria.
