The Iron Man Cal Ripken, Jr. recorded one of his best seasons in 1999, batting .340 with 18 home runs in 86 games. His 1999 road gray Baltimore Orioles Russell Athletic button-down jersey features “Orioles” and a paraph across the chest in orange, black and white tackle twill and Ripken’s famed number “8” is below in the same orange, black and white tackle twill. There is black piping on both sleeve ends with the left having the oriole bird patch and the right having the number “7” sewn on in black tackle twill honoring his late father, Cal Ripken, Sr. The left front tail has the Russell size 48 label with “+2 EXTRA LENGTH” and “100% POLYESTER” flags and a “1999” strip tags below. The back has “RIPKEN” arched above his number “8” in orange and black tackle twill. The jersey shows light game use with evidence of washing and loose threads. There is also some fraying and fading of the memorial “7”. This road jersey has been signed on the front in bold, contrasting black marker by Ripken below the end of the paraph on the right chest. This jersey comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. and a signed LOA from Cal Ripken, Jr. for the game use and signature will accompany this jersey.
