Arturo Herrera has a wide-ranging practice that encompasses sculpture, photography, and large-scale wall installations, though he remains best known for his collages and works in felt. His interventions conflate imagery drawn from popular culture and the formal language of painting, with an emphasis on early abstraction. The resultant tension in Herrera’s work functions as a means of exploring the territory between implicit and explicit meaning.

Recent solo exhibitions of Herrera’s work include those at Corbett vs. Dempsey, Chicago; Galleri Bo Bjerggaard, Copenhagen; and Tate Modern, London. His work has been included in exhibitions at Kupferstichkabinett, Berlin; Museo del Segno e della Scrittura, Torino; and the UBS Art Collection, New York.
