Sarah Ann Weber is known for her lush botanical landscapes and portraits, which the artist likens to mirages. Primarily a painter, Weber varies her substrates, often incorporating a base layer of baking fondant; an inclusion that allows the finished works decay in a fashion that mirrors their natural subject matter, while establishing a physical correlation to the overindulgent decadence of her painted and drawn forms.
Recent solo exhibitions of Weber’s work include those at Anat Ebgi Gallery, Los Angeles; Club Pro, Los Angeles; and Some Time Salon, San Francisco. Her work has been included in shows at DeGroot Fine Art, Chicago; Pavillon Am Milchof, Berlin; and Kopeikin Gallery, Los Angeles.
Please note that while this auction is hosted on Sothebys.com, it is being administered by the Art Institute of Chicago’s Society for Contemporary Art (the “SCA”), and all post-sale matters (inclusive of invoicing and property pickup/shipment) will be handled by the SCA. As such, Sotheby’s will share the contact details for the winning bidders with the SCA so that they may be in touch directly post-sale.
