Glenn Sorensen’s work is noted for its spareness and the energized simplicity of its depiction of objects, scenery, and figurative motifs. In both painting and sculpture, Sorensen works through a process of reduction, systematically removing any previous gestures or decisions he deems nonessential. His use of a restrained color palette paired with the urgency of his approach blurs the lines between the traditions of portraiture and still life.
Recent solo exhibitions of Sorensen’s work include those at Corvi Mora, London; Annet Gelink Gallery, Amsterdam; and Galleria Raucci/Santamaria, Naples; as well as inclusion in exhibitions at Tristian Koenig, Victoria; ArtBO International, Bogota; Galerie Zink, Berlin; and Galleri Nicolai Wallner, Copenhagen.
Please note that while this auction is hosted on Sothebys.com, it is being administered by the Art Institute of Chicago’s Society for Contemporary Art (the “SCA”), and all post-sale matters (inclusive of invoicing and property pickup/shipment) will be handled by the SCA.
