There were two different style posters created for the Japanese release of this film. This is the rarer and more desirable of the two.

Hayao Miyazaki, one of the founders of Studio Ghibli, wrote and directed this film. Studio Ghibli, which was founded in 1985, has been responsible for making so many magical animations. So popular and loved is Totoro that the studio use it as their mascot/logo.
