ANATOMY OF A MURDER (1959) MID 1980s SPECIAL SILKSCREEN POSTER, US

Art by Saul Bass (1920-1996)

36 x 26 in. (91 x 66 cm)

This film was directed by Otto Preminger, and stars James Stewart. It was one of the first mainstream Hollywood films to address sex and rape in graphic terms. It includes one of Saul Bass's most celebrated title sequences, an innovative musical score by Duke Ellington (who plays a character called Pie-Eye in the film), and is one of the finest pure trial films ever made. This is an exceptionally rare alternative design by Saul Bass, designed and printed for Saul Bass's own personal use in his portfolio. Bass gave a number of these posters to friends and colleagues, and is exceptionally rare.
