This painting once formed part of the famous Lochis collection in Bergamo, which included masterpieces by Raphael, Titian, Crivelli, Velazquez and Bellini. When there, it was catalogued as a work by Giovanni Bellini. Indeed, stylistically it shows the influence of Bellini and other artists working in the last decades of the 15th Century, such as Carpaccio.
