This large maritime vista is inspired by the works of Jan van de Cappelle (1626-1679) and Lieve Verschuier (1627-1686), two great 17th century Dutch Golden Age artists. The atmospheric clouds and calm water seen here stylistically relate to a canvas by Van de Cappelle in the Mauritshuis, The Hague.¹
