Decorated with a series of engraved half-length angels within circular medallions, the present casket follows a design produced in Limoges in the second half of the 13th century. A châsse of near-identical composition is housed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art (inv. no. 17.190.329) while another, with only three medallions on each plaque, is in the Cluny Museum in Paris (inv. no. Cl. 982).
