Watercolour and bodycolour on ivory, gold frame, glazed hair reverse;

reputedly signed, inscribed and dated verso: 1803 / 690

76 by 63 mm.

This lot contains ivory. Due to recent changes in the laws of many countries (e.g. US, France) Sotheby’s recommends that buyers check with their own government regarding any importation requirements prior to placing a bid. The sitter was a Member of Parliament for Holybrooke, County Wicklow and in 1789 was created a baronet within the Irish peerage.

The miniature is listed under number 5690 in the hand-written sitter's book of the artist, held in the Victoria and Albert Museum.
