Description
MOZART, WOLFGANG AMADEUS
Scribal manuscript score of the duet 'Per queste tue manine', K. 540b, from Don Giovanni
notated in brown ink on one 10-stave system per page, by an unidentified scribe, with some latter additions in another hand, superscribed 'par W. A. Mozart', with a later title on the originally blank first page ("Duetto / dell'Opera Il Don Giovanni / di Mozart / Partitura"), the text beginning 'Per questa tua manina [sic]', scored for trumpets, flutes, oboes, bassoons, violins, viola, bass and soprano and bass voices (designated 'Zettina' and 'Seporto', corrected later to 'Zerlina' and 'Leporello')
19 pages, oblong 4to (20.5 x 35.5cm), ties, no place or date [late C18th or early C19th]
This nowadays rarely performed duet for Zerlina and Leporello was specially composed by Mozart for the 1788 Vienna performance of Don Giovanni.
Mozart's own autograph of the duet is lost.
