Laxman Shrestha is known for his vital and harmonic canvases. Born in Nepal in 1939, he studied at Bombay’s Sir J. J. School of Art where he met his wife, fellow artist, Sunita. During his life, Laxman found solace studying Western existentialist philosophy, the philosophical-religious ideas recorded in the Hindu Upanishads, and later, the teachings of Buddhism. His fluid works reflect this spiritual journey; imbued with a latent energy, the works explore intimations of the universal, endlessly crossing over between the real and the sublime.
