Colòquio com Guerreiro is imbued with passion, exemplified in the intense glare and crimson filled eyes shared by both subjects. It is a revolutionarily stark departure from the artist's earlier works and is emblematic of Lopes’s exploratory style. Giulio Carlo Argan (art historian and Mayor of Rome, 1976 -1979) praised Lopes’s Roman works, declaring the city a common homeland of all forms of culture, and recommending that she be included in one of the most important exhibitions of the day, La Quadriennale d’Arte Nazionale di Roma in 1977.
