Founded in 1998 in New York City, The Strokes are recognised as the preeminent garage rock band and post-punk revivalists, which led to the resurgence of Indie rock. The band has received multiple awards including Best New Act from the MTV Europe Music Awards and Best International Band from the BRIT Awards and over 20 nominations.
