Accompanied by a Breguet certificate dated 31 August 2020. The certificate confirms that both sides of the skeletonised movement were entirely engraved by hand and that the watch was made between 1983 and 1984.
Produced in the early 1980s, this watch dates to a period when traditional watchmakers were still reeling from the fallout of the Quartz Crisis. Towards the end of the 1970s and into the early 1980s, there was a recognition that skeletonised watches were an excellent means by which the finest makers could demonstrate the quality and exclusivity of their mechanical movements - placing the movement centre stage, rather than hidden behind a case back. The 1980s was also a decade in which the popularity of the tourbillon began to come to the fore, its mesmerizing action proving an irresistible draw for collectors and admirers of the traditional watchmaker's craft. Watches such as this asserted the prowess of their makers and displayed the manufacturer's confidence in the future of Haute Horlogerie and mecahnical time.
