Of geometric design, set with baguette and old European-cut diamonds, mounted in platinum, length approximately 185mm, signed Van Cleef & Arpels, numbered, French assay marks, pouch stamped Van Cleef & Arpels. 


Accompanied by Certificate of Authenticity from Van Cleef & Arpels.

Deco Design


During the Silver Screen years of the late 20s and 30s, there was an all-white jewellery vogue that dominated. At the end of the 1910s, Art Nouveau gave way to the sleek geometry of Art Deco. During this time, Van Cleef & Arpels’ creations clearly embraced this period’s style. The Art Deco bracelets – worn on the wrist or ‘Indian style’ on the upper arm – suited the slinky, sleeveless dresses of the time.


The great heritage master jewelers of the Place Vendôme included Van Cleef & Arpels amongst its peers. During this period, Paris was celebrating its golden status as the center of art and luxury, to both Haute Couture and Haute Joaillerie. Van Cleef & Arpels, was particularly known for their skills in reflecting the Art Deco inspiration and artistic impetus of Renée Puissant – daughter of Alfred Van Cleef and Estelle Arpels – the ideal combination of ingenuity and elegance. It was during this period that Van Cleef & Arpels was at the pinnacle of its creativity, producing a plethora of iconic designs such as Mystery Set™, the creation of the Ludo Hexagone bracelet, specially commissioned pieces by style icon, the Duchess of Windsor, marking itself as a master in iconic bracelets.


Lot 1646 epitomizes the Maison at the height of the Art Deco period, with its geometric and clean lines, a perfect example of the style of the time maintaining a timeless elegance through the years.
