Finely carved with archaistic motifs and worked from translucent, bright white stone, this pendant is emblematic of Qianlong period workmanship. For related Qianlong period white jade pendants, see one with chilong similarly clambering on the sides, sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 30th November 2011, lot 3237; another, carved extensively in openwork, sold in our London rooms, 16th May 2012, lot 143; and for an example with low-relief chilong surrounding a central aperture, compare one sold in our Paris rooms, 18th December 2012, lot 101.
