A GROUP OF PRINTS

MEIJI PERIOD (LATE 19TH CENTURY)


The group comprising three triptychs, two diptychs, eleven single-sheet woodblock prints and an album of fifty woodblock prints, variously signed and including:

Fudo Myoo threatening a novice, the left sheet signed Yoshitoshi, with artist’s seal Taiso Published by Akiyama Buemon (Kokkeido), 1885; Summer: Women Bathing at the Daishoro at Nezu (Nezu hanayashiki Daishoro, natsu), from the series The Four Seasons at their Heights (Zensei shiki), the right sheet signed Oju Yoshitoshi ga, with artist's seal Taiso, published by Akiyama Buemon (Kokkeido), 1883; the complete set of fifty prints from the series Sagas of Beauty and Bravery (Biyu suikoden), variously signed Gyokuo Yoshitoshi hitsu, Kaisai Yoshitoshi hitsu, Ikkaisai Yoshitoshi hitsu, Tsukioka Yoshitoshi hitsu, Ikkai Yoshitoshi hitsu and Kai Yoshitoshi, censor’s seal aratame, published by Omiya Kyujiro (Kiyudo), 1866-67
