The illustration depicting sage Vishwamitra arriving at the hermitage of Vashishtha, spiritual teacher of Rama and Lakshmana, and seeking the help of the young princes in vanquishing demons who are disturbing his own meditation and practice. The narrative is separated by a diagonal. On the right Rama and Lakshmana are seen bowing in respect to their guru before they take his leave and depart with Vishwamitra. On the top left King Janaka of Mithila is shown consulting with a minister.
As the story relates, Rama and Lakshmana succeed in vanquishing the demons plaguing Vishwamitra and together with him they later arrive at the court of King Janaka.
