The legendary Royal Oak was designed by Gérald Genta in the 1970s and has remained to be one of the most symbolic icon in the horology world. Nevertheless, the success of the Royal Oak model has never stopped the brand from their pursuit of excellence. In 1992 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Royal Oak, Audemars Piguet released a 1000 pieces limited edition. Out of these 1000, some were made in 18kt yellow gold and handful in platinum, but mostly in steel. The steel version came in two dial configurations: a blue one, similar to the 1972 original and the other in salmon pink. This last one is without doubt is the most sought-after by collectors. In the early 2000s, the Royal Oak Chronograph 25960BC automatic chronograph in white gold and the more complicated Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar 25820PT in platinum were released with salmon dials, cementing the desirability of these Salmon dialed Royal Oak’s.

The natural conclusion to this evolution is the current watch, the very pinnacle of complicated watch making combined with the most desirable and visually appealing dial color and cased in the luxurious 18k white gold. Here we have the Royal Oak Grande Complication with a combination of minute repeating, perpetual calendar with moon-phases, days of the week and a split-seconds chronograph all painstakingly hand-crafted by a single master watchmaker for almost a year.

The movement that unites all these functions, along with the hours, minutes and small seconds, is the automatic movement cal. 2885, comprised on an impressive 648 individual parts and with a diameter of only 31mm, but despite this, the barrel of the movement stores enough energy to keep the watch running for approximatively 45 hours when fully wound. This luxurious and sporty masterpiece is housed in an 18k white gold and complimented by full white gold bracelet. Accompanied by extract from the Audemars Piguet archives.
