Staying true to F.P. Journe’s ‘Invenit et Fecit’ philosophy, that is ‘Invented and Made’, the Resonance has left an indelible mark on haute horology with its rigorous craftsmanship since its launch in 2000.

The Resonance’s distinctiveness derives from its application of the eponymous scientific phenomenon. When the horologist Breguet examined two pendulums oscillating next to each other, he discovered that the first pendulum vibrated energy which would be absorbed by the second pendulum. Both began to beat with the same natural frequency, resulting in synchronicity. The Resonance applies this technical mastery to its intricate movement, with the two balance wheels placed side by side. Beating in sync to minimalise disturbance, the watch displays the time of two time zones with utmost accuracy as seen on the symmetrical sub-dial layout, thus achieving chronometric excellence and geometric balance.

Adding to its singularity, the Resonance was one of the earliest F.P. Journe watches to be fitted with a black dial. Although the present lot seems to contain the matte black dial found in boutique editions, it comprises of an extremely rare black mother-of-pearl dial which shimmers only when examined under strong light. Made for Sincere Fine Watches around 2006 prior to the announcement of boutique editions in 2010, this special timepiece is limited to only 10 pieces.
