Introduced in 2004, the A. Lange & Söhne Double Split is the world’s first mechanical chronograph to feature a double-rattrapante function. As the chronograph commences, pushing the button at ten o’clock will stop the rattrapante hand, separating itself from the main chronograph hand to record an initial time. This in turn allows multiple laps of time to be recorded. The main chronograph hand continues to run, and another push on the left-hand case pusher catches up the rattrapante hand with the main chronograph hand. Such a precise mechanism is supported by A. Lange & Söhne’s very own calibre L001.1, which consists of 465 breathtaking components fully revealed on the sapphire crystal display back, as in true A. Lange & Söhne fashion. With a well-balanced and magnificent dial design, the present Double Split is cased in platinum and bears an impressive presence on the wrist and is in close to new condition.
