AN UNUSUAL BLUE AND WHITE 'LINGZHI AND BABAO' JAR

JIAJING MARK AND PERIOD 

明嘉靖 青花纏枝靈托八寶紋小罐 《大明嘉靖年製》款



of baluster form, finely painted with a continuous scroll of meandering lingzhi, each of the eight fungi supporting one of the 'Eight Precious Objects,' babao, framed below by a classic scroll border, and above by a diaper band at the shoulder beneath a short straight rim, the base with a six-character mark within double circle. 


Height 5 in., 12.7 cm
