the top panel of shaped and cusped rectangular outline, over a recessed waist pierced with oblong panels and an everted barbed apron, all raised on four slightly recessed outcurving scroll feet, the top with beaded edge and inlaid in iridescent mother-of-pearl with a scene of a scholarly gathering within an elegant garden pavilion, enclosed within a diaper border reserving shaped panels of birds and flowers, the apron reserved with further scenes of scholars on a diaper ground, all on a dark brown lacquer ground
