A GRAYISH-CELADON JADE GUI TABLET

QING DYNASTY, 19TH CENTURY

清十九世紀 灰青玉雕趕珠龍紋圭璧


in the form of a bi disc set against a vertical shaft with a pointed tip, one side of the disc covered with raised bosses, the opposite side carved with a pair of dragons contesting a 'Flaming Pearl', the animals' bodies descending along the sides of the disc, their bifurcated tails forming openwork loops to either side of the tablet, a constellation at the center of the tablet, the stone a mottled pale gray-green tone with russet veins, wood stand (2)
