五代 吳越國 銅菩薩坐像



well cast with the torso erect, the lower half of the body in siddhasana, the proper right hand raised and once holding an attribute, the other lowered with the palm facing up, the hair piled high in a chignon and swept back from the face, a small urna incised above a peaceful and stern facial expression, the body draped in robes with upswept sleeves and a dhoti gathered at the waist, the deity framed by an openwork mandorla surmounted by a seated Buddha above two overlapping floral medallions bordered by patterned rings issuing flames, the bodhisattva seated on a lotus blossom, further raised by a pierced hexafoil tier raised on six paw feet, all supported by a stepped and tiered conforming base terminating in scalloped bracket feet, modern stand, Japanese wood box (6)
