the rectangular panel painted with a scene of tilling and weaving, mounted in a pierced wood stand, the reverse with original silk
with frame 76 by 44.2 by h. 66 cm, 30 by 17 ⅜ by h. 26 in.

This large panel is vividly enamelled with a scene of tilling and weaving, enclosed by tall flowering trees and mountain peaks painted with texture strokes and washes in green and blue, following the tradition of Chinese paintings. Porcelain screens of this impressive size and enamelled with figures in landscape are unusual, although one of similar size was sold in these rooms, 27th November 1981, lot 955.
