Yue ware chicken-head ewers are among the most characteristic ceramic products of the Six Dynasties (220-589) and pieces with globular body and iron-brown spots are characteristic of the Eastern Jin period (317-420); for two similar ewers see Regina Krahl, Chinese Ceramics from the Meiyintang Collection, London, 1994-2010, vol. 1, nos 149 and 150.
