A major player in the contemporary American scene, Rashid

Johnson is famous for his work on the cultural phenomena

that have shaped the identity of the African-American

community. He was first noticed at the age of 21 when he

participated in the Studio Museum’s Freestyle group exhibition

in Harlem, the artist, born in Chicago in 1977, quickly gained

international recognition.

Working from a wide range of materials to create protean

works, Rashid Johnson delivers synthetic work with strong

evocative power while developing reflections in relation to

mysticism and cosmology.

Rashid Johnson est célèbre pour son travail sur les

phénomènes culturels qui ont façonné l’identité de la

communauté afro-américaine. Se faisant remarquer

dès l’âge de 21 ans alors qu’il participe à l’exposition

de groupe Freestyle du Studio Museum de Harlem,

l’artiste né en 1977 à Chicago accède très rapidement

à la reconnaissance internationale.

Travaillant à partir d’un large éventail de matériaux pour

réaliser des oeuvres protéiformes, Rashid Johnson livre
