Commissioned by the present owner in 1992

This group of nine Artefacts from the Geometric Horizons series and one from Continuation was commissioned by the present owner following his first visit to Infante’s studio in Moscow in 1990. In 1992 the artist, his wife Nonna Goriunova and their son Platon were invited to stay at the collector’s house in Paris and later in La Roche Jaune – a small seaside town in Brittany. Most of the works from the Geometric Horizons series were executed in the environs of Plougrescant, the northernmost point of Brittany on the mainland. Two copies of both the Geometric Horizon series and the Souvenir series (lot 44, executed during Infante’s stay in Paris) were developed at the Laboratoire Central Color in Paris, one for the artist and one for the present owner. Upon Infante’s return to Moscow, his set of photographs were exhibited at his solo exhibition at the State Tretyakov Gallery and are reproduced in the exhibition catalogue (Francisco Infante: Artefakty, Moscow: State Tretyakov Gallery, 1992). A year later works from the Geometric Horizon series were also exhibited in his solo exhibition at the Galeria Emilio Navarro in Madrid and are reproduced in the catalogue (Francisco Infante, Madrid: Galeria Emilio Navarro, 1992).
