A MEISSEN KAKIEMON OCTAGONAL TEAPOT AND COVER, CIRCA 1730


with a faceted spout and loop handle, painted on the front and reverse with the same scene of a phoenix in flight above a leafy stem of flowering chrysanthemum, the cover with a further chrysanthemum spray with a gilt cone finial and brown-edged rim, the handle with a single flower, crossed swords mark in blue enamel, impressed Dreher's mark ※ for Andreas Schiefer (Rainer Rückert, Biographische Daten der Meißener Manufakturisten des 18. Jahrhunderts, Munich, 1990, p. 126).
