Colour: Light gold

Nose: Fresh and with an alcohol kick – this whisky still has a lot of life in it. Initially some esters and English orchard aromas: fresh pears and apple cider with barley malt. After some time in the glass this whisky really begins to ripen! Napa Chardonnay, sugar smacks, cedar wood, Garibaldi biscuits and, of course, coconut with Golden Syrup on buttered French toast. This is undoubtedly American oak with sweet vanillins balanced by biscuity malt.

Palate: Very interesting. Quite viscous, with West Country Scrumpy, Golden Syrup and Pear Drops. The Chardonnay character seems fresher and more acidic on the palate – a Chablis, perhaps? – with some lively red berries, strawberry jam and fruit rollups. The oak is present and satisfyingly drying in the mouth.

The finish is medium in length with fresh fruit, barley and oak all playing their part.
