Vintage black and white silver gelatin print (8 1/2 x 7 3/4 in.; 216 x 197 mm, in two-sided glass frame, 9 1/2 x 11 1/2 in.; 241 x 292 mm), signed by Churchill (“Winston Churchill”) along the lower edge in ink, press caption to verso. Some chipping to frame, glass cracked in two places on rear face, not examined out of frame.

(8 1/2 x 7 3/4 inches).


AN ORIGINAL BLACK AND WHITE PRESS PHOTOGRAPH, with caption that reads:

Sir Winston Churchill left London on Wednesday for French Riviera for a holiday. He flew from London airport to Nice, wearing a fur collared overcoat and smoking one of his traditional cigars. On arriving in Nice, accompanied by his secretary, he was soon speeding off to Cap Martin, where he will stay at a villa aptly called “Quiet Rest.” Photo Shows: Sir Winston Churchill arriving in Nice for a holiday and quiet rest in the South of France.

The caption is ink-stamped: “Photograph Supplied By Paul Popper Ltd. London.”
