清乾隆 剔紅赤壁寶盒 《赤壁寶盒》、《大清乾隆年製》款


the cover crisply carved with a landscape scene depicting Su Shi's first visit to the Red Cliff, illustrating his companions on a raft steering towards the vertical cliff detailed with gnarled pine trees issuing from rockwock, the sides carved with bats and floral roundels against a diaper ground, the box similarly decorated, the base lacquered black and incised and gilt with a six-character reign mark, the inside of the cover lacquered black and incised and gilt with a four-character inscription reading Chibi baohe ('Red cliff treasure box')
