Formerly noble collection, Bavaria

The slender, elongated forms of this Bishop Saint are characteristic of late Gothic sculpture in Franconia. For the facial type, compare a Saint Michael in the Bayerisches Nationalmuseum, Munich (op. cit., no. 166). Though possibly a later replacement or addition, the church in the Saint's left hand bears a striking architectural resemblance to Bamberg Cathedral.
