YANKEE DOODLE
AN ORIGINAL AMERICAN AIR, ARRANGED WITH VARIATIONS FOR THE PIANOFORTE. PHILADELPHIA AND NEW YORK: CARR'S MUSICAL REPOSITORY, [1796]
2 leaves (printed both sides) extracted from a bound album (13 3/8 x 9 3/8 in.; 288 x 238 mm), Engraved title in upper portion of first page, 4 pp. of engraved music; some browning and minor foxing.
The first known American sheet-music edition under the title "Yankee Doodle." This edition, which does not contain lyrics, was advertised for sale in the Federal Gazette, Baltimore, August 1796.
