Einstein employed this Latin aphorism (which means, "the world want to be deceived") on several occasions, including in a presentation inscription to Hermann Struck in a copy of Über die spezielle und die allgemeine Relativitätstheorie Gemeinverständlich (Braunschweig, 1917).
