Christine B. Podmaniczky, N.C. Wyeth: Catalogue Raisonné of Paintings, vol. II, Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, 2008, O.4, p. 834

According to Christine B. Podmaniczky, "The painting's association with the Harrisburg 1965 exhibition is based on provenance; this is the only one of three known coasting pictures that was with the Wyeth family at the time." She continues by confirming that the present work is the only one among the series in horizontal format and is therefore unlikely to be an image produced for a magazine cover. The author also references the Park-Bernet Galleries auction catalogue entry from 1970, confirming "the locale of the painting is 'understood' to be Kuerner's Hill in Chadds Ford, and that the children represented 'are those of the artist, with Andrew Wyeth in the foreground.' If Andrew Wyeth was indeed the model, the date of execution would be closer to the later part of the date range." (Christine B. Podmaniczky, N.C. Wyeth: Catalogue Raisonné of Paintings, vol. II, Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, 2008, p. 834)
