By descent to the present owner
In 1946, Georgia O'Keeffe met photographer Todd Webb through her husband, Alfred Stieglitz, and the two formed a lifelong friendship. They both enjoyed significant exhibitions in 1946. A survey of O'Keeffe's paintings opened in New York at An American Place in February, and from May to August of that year her retrospective was on view at The Museum of Modern Art. Concurrently, Beaumont Newhall curated Webb's first solo exhibition of photographs, shown at the Museum of the City of New York. The 23 photographs offered here document O'Keeffe's exhibition at An American Place.
