Rolex has a strong connection to several military regiments, producing special edition pieces for the members of the units they serve. Commissioned in 2014 to commemorate the UK Apache operations, the case back is finely engraved with a Apache helicopter with the Union Jack flag in the background, issue number and the name of the Attack Helicopter Force Officer. Only 48 watches were produced for the Force, no. 1/48 was bought by the Commander, no. 2/48 (the present watch) was offered to the longest serving member of the force, this example was offered to the current Senior Flying Instructor, who had been flying the Apache since 1999.
