Rodania was founded in 1930 in Grenchen, Switzerland. Initially named Rodana SA from 1933 onwards, the company introduced the Rodania name in around 1952. The brand was shortly highly regarded for the quality of its pocket watches and carried on producing high-grade sports watches before seeing its production decline during the quartz crisis.

The Geometer chronograph in stainless steel was introduced in 1954. Despite its long availability in the catalogue, it was manufactured in low quantities with a total production estimated at less than 1000 pieces. The chronograph is powered by a Valjoux 72 calibre, adjusted to 3 positions. This was a surprisingly rare feature in 1954, as most manufacturers would then encase unadjusted Valjoux 72 movements. The Geometer was produced with either a black or a silver dial, such as the present piece. The large 38mm case diameter and great quality overall make the Geometer an extremely compelling vintage chronograph.

The present Geometer was sold in 1965 and stands in very compelling condition. It is furthermore accompanied by its original guarantee and Rodania presentation case.
