FIRST EDITION. This treatise, Kitab al-Filaha, was written at the end of the twelfth century by the Andalusian landowner Ibn al'Awwam. It is a compilation of earlier Arabic and Greek sources tempered with Ibn al-'Awwam's own agricultural experiences. The translator was a Franciscan Arabist from Granada; he spent fourteen years working on this translation.
