UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

A collection of over two hundred historic photographs, c.1901 to early 1960s


218 photographs (from 130 x 175mm. to 195 x 245mm.), comprising press photographs, copy prints, and later prints (c.1990s) from original negatives, each preserved in a polyester archival sleeve, housed in two ring binders, a few prints with minor stains


AN IMPORTANT COLLECTION OF HISTORIC PHOTOGRAHS OF THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES BEFORE UNIFICATION, including images of rulers and sheikhs, and views of Abu Dhabi, Lingeh, Sharjah, Ras al-Khaimah, Dubai, and Buraimi. The photographs include images by notable travellers, political agents and corporations, including Sir Percy Cox, Hermann Burchardt, H.R. Vaughan, Sir Rupert Hay, Wilfred Thesiger, Ronald Codrai, and employees of the British Indian and Russian navies, British Airways, the Iraq Petroleum Company (IPC) and British Petroleum (BP).
