FIRST EDITION, 2 volumes, 8vo, (225 x 140mm.), 3 folding maps in pocket of volume 1, 19 lithographed plates, contemporary blue cloth (possibly a presentation binding), yellow endpapers, gilt edges


THE DEDICATEE’S COPY. Edward Belcher (1799-1877) took over command of HMS Sulphur when the previous captain, Frederick Beechey (see lots 97-101), fell ill at Valparaiso, Chile.
