Arabic manuscript on cream paper, 83 leaves plus 2 fly-leaves, 13 lines to the page, written in naskh in black ink, ruled in black, gold and red, verses separated by polychrome and gold dotted roundels, chapters divided by gold and polychrome cartouches, f.1b and f.16b with a polychrome and gold heading (‘unwan), Hilyah of the Prophet (f.14a), illustrations of Mecca (f.14b) and Medina (f.15a), polychrome and gold verse markers in the margins, in brown gilt and stamped leather binding, with flap

Ahmed ibn Amirzade was originally from the city of Kutahya, which was an important centre of ceramic production and calligraphy since Selim I defeated the Persians in 1514 and settled the artisans from Tabriz between Kutahya and Iznik.
