Before the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona was powered by a Rolex calibre movement, it ran on the Zenith El Primero calibre 4030 movement. The calibre 4030 was outsourced to Zenith and then modified by Rolex to beat at a rate of 28,800 bph for a smoother reading on or off the race track. Its feature set also includes a sophisticated black dial topped with Tritium lume, central hands, and gold sub-dials, a gold 400-kilometer Tachymeter bezel, and side pushers that allow the wearer to access the chronograph functions within the movement.
