4to (266 x 205mm.), 30 numbers in two volumes, 73 plates, maps or plans (many hand-coloured), 1 (of 11) leaves of music, later half red morocco by Riviere, gilt edges, lacking 10 leaves of music, occasional light spotting or browning


As noted in the Preface, there were three objects to the publication: "...the first has been to present to the British Army a collection of the most valuable papers on military subjects... the second has been to bring forward every new regulation and interesting point of fact, connected with the particular condition of the British Army. And the third has been to introduce a series of useful and ornamental copper-plates, such as every military man would wish to be in his possession".
