4to (177 x 125mm.), variant with P3 cancelland present with last line on recto reading "suppressed", first title-page with woodcut royal arms, second title-page within woodcut border with woodcut armorial on verso, woodcut initials, head- and tailpieces, woodcut illustrations, later half calf, first title-page laid down, extremities slightly rubbed


Sir William Segar (1554-1633) was a court painter and officer of arms. This work, published anonymously and probably compiled by the printer Richard Jones, includes five parts that discuss the rules of heraldry regarding knighthood, tournaments and combats.
